GILT CHAMBERS is one of the largest sets of Barristers’ Chambers in Hong Kong. Gilt Chambers was established in the early 1990s and has barristers with diverse experience and practice areas including constitutional law, complex criminal cases and appeals, large scale international arbitrations, corporate and commercial litigation, intellectual property, admiralty and shipping.
Many members of chambers have been involved in high profile cases in Hong Kong and other jurisdictions and have been recognised as leading lawyers in their areas of practice.
Gilt Chambers is committed to fostering and maintaining the Rule of Law in Hong Kong and many of its members devote a large amount of time to professional and public service as well as pro bono work.
Members of Gilt Chambers’ have a diverse range of backgrounds and experience. Many are former government counsel and have substantial experience in prosecution and other public policy legal areas. Other members have gained substantial experience in other fields such as technology research before qualifying as barristers. One member was, prior to qualifying as a barrister a well known Hong Kong movie star.
Many of Gilt Chambers’ members have written leading legal text books. The founders of the chambers, Dr Gerard McCoy SC and Andrew Bruce SC are the authors of Bruce & McCoy on Criminal Evidence. Other books published by members of chambers include books on the Hong Kong Basic Law, cyber law, patent litigation and international arbitration.
