Hilary Heilbron QC is a Barrister and International Arbitrator. She joined Brick Court Chambers in 1972 where she has practiced both commercial law principally in the English Commercial Court and in international arbitration. As an advocate she has undertaken many major cases over the years often with international backgrounds including arbitral related cases such as Dallah Real Estate Tourism Holding Co v Government of Pakistan [2010] UKSC 46 and has appeared in all the courts of the land including in the Supreme Court.

She also acts as both counsel and arbitrator in very substantial international arbitrations including those involving foreign laws: both civil and common law. With over 90 appointments as an international arbitrator she has wide experience of most of the arbitral instructions globally and often acts as Chair of the tribunal.  The arbitrations cover a broad range of international commercial activity from share purchase agreements and joint ventures to power, water and energy issues including pricing issues.

She has held many legally related positions over the years. She is currently a member of the following among other positions: the ICCA-ASIL Task Force on Damages; the LCIA Court; the ICC UK Arbitration and ADR Committee; and the International Advisory Committee of the ICDR. She is also a Deputy High Court Judge.

She is a regular speaker at both international arbitration and litigation conferences all over the world and has contributed articles to various journals on both subjects. She is the author of “A Practical Guide to International Arbitration in London”.
